We Make Happy Trails
We believe all horses deserve a second chance and loving home! 2016 we started to take in non-ridable horses to rehabilitate and retrain. In order to finance their living, we started offering Specialized Private Trail Rides with the ready trained horses. This started as a hobby, and is now constantly growing. We very are happy that you all can get to enjoy these wonderful horses and help more horses
Wyatt
Wyatt is a spirited and very very handy 19 year old gelding. He is about 14.3 tall, and has an excellent neck-rein and loves to work. When he came to us, he was afraid of humans and hard to catch, but he has turned around perfectly, first up to meet you and put his nose in the halter. This boy has the most wonderful jog and lope. This is the ultimate Cowboy Horse!! He do great with a intermediate-experienced. Weight limit 190lbs
Concho
Concho is a 20 years old Quarterhorse gelding. He must have been a ranch horse in his previous job, because he is very handy and accepting. As a pretty Palomino, he always get a lot of attention even if he is only 14h tall. He will walk out anywhere you ask him to, but he do not want to be without his humans or horsefriends. Suitable for beginners and children. Weight limit 150lbs
Veni (Bubba)
Veni is 18 years old Lineback Dunn (buckskin). 15.2 tall. Shoot off and practice Reining. He is the boss in the herd right now. Calm reliable and protective. Been ridden in parades. Can have a mind of his own sometimes tho. Wonderful jog and smoot nice lope. He loves to gallop, and on a open field, he is constantly listening for the kissing sound so that he can take off and have fun with his rider. Weight limit 180lbs ​
Habibi
Habibi means my darling in arabic. And this 25 year old arab sure is a darling. A bigger heart you will have to look for. He rides English, reining and can ride bareback without bridal. He has recently learned that he is fastest horse in town, and if you ask him to open up, he sure will fly! He loves humans, fries and coffee. About 14.3 tall He can be ridden by anyone that will love him. Weigh limit 140lbs

Frosty
This is the eye catcher of the group! Frosty is a white 13 year old mule. Newcomer and youngest heart breaker in the herd, loves kisses. If you like to ride gated horses, you have to try this guy! He simply fly forward in a smooth walk. Goes anywhere, and nothing bothers him, parades or climbing high up in the Hill Country. ​ This guy is our strongest worker, and the biggest clown in the herd. Suitable for aduls advanced will really enjoy this ride! Weight limit 220lbs
Rosy
Meet Rosy! She is about 12 years old, 14.2 tall, came from a reservation in Montana to the Kill Pen in Oklahoma, and from there to us. ​ 5 months after she came here, she got started, now a year later, she works as guest horse, beginner to advanced. ​ She always greet her people, and love to go out for rides. She is absolutely a sweetheart, and love treats, and grass. She is a lady that is in absolutely no hurry ​ Weight limit 170lbs ​ ​
Whiskey
This 29 years old Appalosa is about 16.1 hands tall. He has been working at one of Banderas Guest Ranches for 15 years. Recently he lost his job, and where up for sale to a forever home. Unfortunately no one bought him. He has now moved in with us, and worked for 2 years. He is now mostly retired but he likes to come out with us once in a while ​ Whiskey loves TLC and baths. on the trails he is not in a hurry, rather just chug along. ​ Excellent beginner horse, weight limit 120 lbs
Eddie
Eds Bar Smoke is a registered 17 year old AQHA mare thats born in Nebraska and ended up at Kill Pen in Dallas. ​ She is a big hardworking girl with lots of love in her heart. She will do anything you ask of her. ​ On her freetime she prefers to hang out next to her boyfriend Bubba ​ weight limit 220lbs
Smily
10 year old Standardbred mare born in Kansas, and named Nobody Cares did harness race and then sold to Amish, had a still born colt that tore her up, so she ended up in Kill Pen. ​ She has been with us since August and gone through surgery and rehabilitation. ​ She is now a great guest horse, easy going and smooth. She do not have a clean gate on lope, so mostly walk and trott ​ ​
Rooster
About 23 year old Buckskin Paint. His a little hardworking man. ​ He came from Kaufman killpen, and before that Louisiana Bastrop. There was a note with his record saying that his name is Rooster and he was ridden by a 12 year old girl. ​ Rooster is now a wonderful kind Kid horse that chugging easily down the trail ​
Cinco
Cinco is born here on the Ranch, 5th of May 2018. His mom, Freckles is from the area a throw-away pony. That came to us, Cinco is a surprise, and a really cute one! ​ Cinco has now started working as wrangler horse, and will do so for at least another year
Daisy
Lill miss Daisy came with Tucker, she is just 6 year old Appaloosa Filly. ​ Daisy is a very smart young girl. During training she showed her willingness to learn by going from ground work to riding in as little as 30 min. Very friendly and loves attention ​ She is now ready for guests. She is a hard working easy cruizing girl! You will want to take her home with you. weigth limit 170lbs
Baron
Fresian/Standardbred gelding, approx 18 years old. He was working as an Amish buggy horse, and ended up in at Bowie Salebarn where he was not called in at auction, so he was headed for the slaughter loop. In July 2020 he came to us. Surgery and Rehab and Retraining, and Now he is one of our very nice easy going trail horses, a great confidence builder! Due to athropy we only use him for walk only rides
Hwin
This beautiful soul was noted as 10 year old Thoroughbred Mare. She was unloaded at the kill pen from a trailerload full of old mares. She has a lip tattoo saying A3925 or A3928.We have been trying to code it but unsuccessful. ​ She is now up at full health! and trained for riding. She has more go than who and lots of initiative, so suitable for intermediate to advanced. ​ Hwhin is up for rehoming, if interested please contact us ​
Nugget
Nugget was bailed out of kill pen 2021, and came in as a very skinny and nerveous pony. He had absolutely no ground manners, but under saddle he showed to be great. ​ Just look at that adorable innocent face. We have him up as born 2000, gelding arabian/Quarthorse ​ He is now our little golden nugget, excellent kid and beginner horse ​ max weight 150lbs
Pepper
Shes too smooth, aka Pepper is a registered Quarterhorse mare. She is of a trailer load full of broodmares that where going for slaugher 2021. She is born 2000 and looks absolutely great for her age! ​ Very easy going trail horse, suitable for beginners and kids, she absolutely loves attention. ​ ​
Belle
BiGi Belle of Bandera is a 18 year old Belgian Mare. She comes from Michigan where she used to be a Amish Logging horse. ​ She is a part of a community effort where several people contributed to bail her out of kill pen. She came to us early winter 2020 in a tirrible shape. it took a long time for her gto gain trust and weight ​ She is now one of our guest favourite horses, biggest horse in the county. She is suitable for all level of riders. She do not neck rein, so direct rain works bes on her side pull
Annie
Meet Molly Mule Anne, year model 2006. This is absolutely the best mule you will ever ride. ​ She is a local surrender, and have since day one been a hard working girl, very light and easy to ride. She is adorable, and and have her famous "Annies Turbo" when she walks uphil, you will see when you ride her, lol ​ suitable for beginners to advanced, max weight 220lbs
Maddie
La Patrona, aka Maddie is a Mexican Quarterhorse locally surrendered 2022. ​ She had just been in pasture for the last 5 years, well taken care of, but not handled, so with a little tune up, this lady is now one of the sharpest horses to ride. She easily takes well care of beginners, but for advanced rider, she will make them smile! ​ The only thing Maddie dont like, is most all other horse, and on trail, she will walk at the end of the line, she loves that!
Willie
Willie & Maddie came togheter 2022. Willie was called Jack, but we had another Jack horse, so Willie seemed suitable name for this cute little redheaded dunn gelding. Aged to been born 2012. ​ Willie caused a bit problem and was not ridable when he arrived. But it showed to be mostly out of fear, when he learned trust and leadership, he showed to be a wonderful little riding horse! ​ We have even rounded up cows of him
TL
Thunder Lucky, aka TL came to us from the Kendall County Sherifs department late 2021. ​ He is an BLM mustang that was adopted as a yearling, born 2011. He said to have been with a abusive trainer, and owner could no longer afford him. He was not gentled or halterbroke when he arrived ​ He is now whats called TIP trained, and we will start saddle training. He is up for rehoming, please contact us if interested
Dolly
Dolly is a 2005 year model Belgian Draft Horse. She is also an ex Amish Farm animal. ​ She was very unsecure when she arrived november 2022 bit thin, and terrible coat. She has now bloomed, and still not very "cuddly" this can take years to over come, but she loves belly scratches. ​ She is now ready to work, doing rides at the Ranch, in Town and by the River. max weight 220lbs
Waylon
Pay as you go go, aka Waylon is a 2009 born Standardbred gelding. ​ He came to us november 2022 from kill pen, bit thin and limping on one front hoof. It showed to be an old injury, and with corrective shoeing, hes feet can be properly managed ​ He is now such a great worker! Gorgous head, and lots to say, some days he is grumpy, and that shows, some days he is supper happy and all ears forward ​ great beginner to advanced horse. he is only trained for walk/trott, and direct reins better than neck rein.
Cash
2022 november Cash was bailed out of kill pen, another ex amish farm animal. He was paried up with Dolly at the kill lot, and with our previous guests help, we bailed out bothe of them. ​ He was very nerveous and totally attached to dolly when he arrived. ​ He is now doing great! He hangs out with everyone else, and have been started under saddle. We have him up as a Standardbred/saddlebred born 2006, but we start to rethink he might be younger
Boney
End of october this cute little sorrel gelding came to us a local surrender. We have him up as year model 1999. ​ After he miraculously recovered and started gaining weight, we tried him under saddle, and he is absolutely wonderful! Excellent handle on him ​ He still needs a bit more training, and then we will either take him to work as a trail horse, or he will be up for rehoming
